General Meetings
Our
General meetings cover a wide range of subjects. Typically, such a meeting will
involve some general PCS business or the distribution of
information concerning up-coming meetings and other
opportunities in the local community. As warranted, there
will be discussion regarding the latest computer security
threats, new products and other items of interest to the
membership.
Often some of our members give presentations about subjects in
which they have some specialized knowledge. For example,
Phil Ball's Windows Tips 'n' Tricks is a constant crowd pleaser.
Recently, we have had other members give talks and
demonstrations about backup techniques, GPS equipment and virus
and spyware removal. Raffles of new computer equipment are also held at
the end of each meeting.
While some of these speakers obviously have their business interests in
mind, their presentations are related to our mission and our members
often receive significant discounts should they wish to purchase the products.

A PCS Picnic Meeting!
We
don't forget the social niceties at PCS either. Once a year we get
together for a social meeting and have a picnic! These are usually held at a ramada at
different local area parks. The club provides chicken, soft drinks, parking
permits and picnic supplies. The attendees bring a dish to share.
The
festivities start off with a pot-luck feast that always seems
to fill everyone completely. Typically, this is followed by a short
presentation and a raffle which features computer-related prizes.
There's also an equipment exchange and the entire event is a great opportunity to get
to know fellow club members in a more informal setting than is usually
found at meetings.
We have recently added some other enhancements to the
proceedings including food contests and some new entertainment. A more
detailed writeup about the most recent picnic may be found
here.
